I know this isn't being posted on my normal posting schedule but I thought I'd share a little slideshow I made. Enjoy! Hello beautifuls. Welcome back to SGAB. I want to firstly apologize for the random and sudden hiatus. I had other things come up and I didn't get a chance to work on my blog. With that out of the way, let's move on to beauty! Today's topic is a little overwhelming and a little unnerving. There are so many "rules" and tips on how to contour and highlight, but I wanted to simplify it for those of you who are beginning or if you just wanted a refresher on back to the basics. Highlighting is bringing forward what you want to accentuate. The most common places that people like to highlight are the tops of the cheekbones, forehead, tip of the nose, and chin. If you are oily, you may not enjoy highlighting the forehead or chin. Big fluffy brushes are perfect for that all-over every-day glow. If you want to get a little pop or a little more oomph, go for a smaller tapered brush. I personally like to use a tapered eyeshadow brush for the more precise highlighting. If you REALLY want to amp it up, put a little on your shoulders and collarbone during the summer months. Contouring is for receding, or drawing back the things that you don't want to bring attention to. Your natural contour line should be the little hollow space that you see when you purse your lips. Cream Or Powder? Cream contouring and highlighting can be easy if you use the right products and the right tools. Remember, a damp beauty blender or sponge can be your best friend. Creams will look the most natural and will usually give you a dewier finish. I enjoy using powders to set the cream (when I use the creams). Powders can also be used to intensify what you've already applied, or can also be used for every-day looks. They will give you a matte finish, but if you want a dewy finish, just use a hydrating setting spray at the end. Below is a video by one of my favorite beauty gurus on how to contour, blush, highlight, and bake. Disclaimer: You do not have to break the bank and spend money on expensive products. Drugstore products do the exact same thing and will sometimes be better quality. |
