Scripture Reference - 2 Corinthians 4:17 I've been reminded recently that everything we go through, everything we ever do for the Lord Jesus, it's all worth it. He's preparing us for the work we will do when we see Him face to face. There are a lot of hardships in this world. There is a lot of pain, tears, and sadness, but we know that our Jesus can heal. Be encouraged by this song and if you have anything you'd like for me to pray with you about, please let me know. - Patricia

In the last post, we discussed how to spruce up your living arrangements such as a home office and/or bedroom. This time, we will look at how to keep your vanity or beauty area tidy. *coughs* This post is brought to you by...a very messy filming area with makeup and brushes all over the place. If your brushes haven't been cleaned since your New Year's sparkle look, now would be a good time to do so. Cleaning your brushes (a deep clean) will prevent bacteria and ick from building up in the bristles and your makeup will go on a lot better. Clean brushes are satisfying! Organize your products. The dollar stores have tons of containers you can store your palettes and lipsticks in. But don't just "store" them; get creative! Label your containers. I've seen beautubers label their drawers "warm palettes" or "drugstore highlighters". Have fun with it ya know? Wipe down your vanity and mirror. This should be self-explanatory! ~ ~ ~ Quick tip: Now that you've got clean brushes, let's try on a fresh spring look shall we? Pastel eyeshadows Pink lipgloss Subtle highlight (let's get real, we all want the bling...go as blinding as you want) Fluttery, girly lashes ~ ~ ~ Got any makeup declutter tips you'd like to share? What about your favorite spring makeup looks? Above image courtesy of the volunteer photographers for Pixabay.
Keep in mind as you are reading this, I am probably the world's worst at staying organized and clean. However, I have gotten slightly better over the years and I wanted to share some tips on how to make your spring cleaning less of a hassle. This post will focus more on your bedroom and office space; the next will tackle your vanity or beauty space. If you "work from home" like me, you more than likely have random things sprawled all over your desk. Books, paper, pens...your third cup of coffee. After getting the fourth, it's time to start clearing off the desk. Put books where they belong; if you're using one currently, neatly tuck it away nearby. Find a cute cup or storage container for pens and writing utensils. Dust off any dirt or filth off the desk, and wipe off your computer keyboard. If you've got room on your desk, invest in a small plant. It freshens up the room and brings a brand new mood to your work space. I also highly recommend an essential oil diffuser. We won't discuss the current state of my bedroom, but perhaps I can use my own advice later. *sarcasm alert* See those empty clothes hangers in the closet? Those come in pretty handy for putting up clothes. The bookshelf over there needs some love; put away those books you're not reading...unless you're like me and are in the middle of two thousand books at one time. The vacuum sitting there all alone in the hall? Make it feel useful and clean up the floor or sweep if you've got a hardwood floor. Use a room spray to freshen up. Fluff up the pillows and make the bed. Got a stuffed animal or two? Put them near your pillows so that your bedtime buddies are ready for snuggles. Got any cute cleaning tips? Let me know! *snorts* I need all the help I can get! Above image courtesy of the volunteer photographers for Pixabay.
Scripture Reference - Jeremiah 29:11; Galatians 6;9 So you may be wondering what in the world is up with the title of today's devotional. The season of Lent is upon us, and regardless of denomination, God is calling us to "give it up". But give what up exactly? When we think of Lent, we think of the dreadful picture of dropping our favorite foods in exchange for spiritual enlightenment. But there is so much more to it, and Scripture gives us a wonderful promise for those that stay true. For Christians, Lent is a time to prepare for Easter. We begin to reflect on things that have distracted us from God, and we make the decision of what needs to go so that God is our only priority. While that should be a thing all year 'round, sometimes we just need to set aside that time. So what are we giving up? - Things that distract us from God Himself. Maybe we simply need to turn off our phones during our quiet time. Others tend to stay away from social media for the seasons; don't worry, those memes and quizzes will still be there when you get back. Maybe you need to focus on being hungry for God's Word instead of indulging in an unhealthy snack. - Things that hinder the work of God. Are you spending more time at the mall or sports arena on Sundays than being at church? The writer of Hebrews exhorts us to gather with other believers. Not only will it be an encouragement, but it will continue the work of God in our hearts. The Sunday race does nothing for us spiritually. - Things that hinder our obedience to God. Is there a sin in your life that holds you back? Perhaps you harbor unforgiveness. Search your heart for those things that may be withholding God's blessings in your life. Our Scriptures for today remind us that when we focus on God and do the work He's called us to do, there is a reward. When we think of the reward, our thoughts immediately go to the mansion over the hilltop, but there's so much more to it. We will reap peace, joy, happiness, and everything that God wants us to have. All we have to do is be willing to give up those things which block us. |
