Scripture Reference: Galatians 6:17 All through-out the New Testament, Paul was adamant about preaching the real Jesus. He encouraged the Christians of that day to live the example that Jesus taught them. The same is true even today; we need to examine ourselves regularly to make sure we bear the marks of a Christian. If we rewind to Galatians 5:22, many of us will be reminded of the discourse Paul brought out on the fruits of the Spirit. When we produce the fruits of the Spirit, the legacy of our Lord becomes stronger in our lives. Studying the fruits of the Spirit can be rewarding; simply taking a look at the great men and women of God in the Bible and observing how they walked and talked with God, and interacted with a lost and dying world, will help us better apply it to our own living. Sometimes the Lord will throw a test out there to see if we have the faith to carry it out. Do you find it difficult to love a certain type of person? Is your joy stable in the midst of hardship? What about your patience, or lack thereof? I pray this week you will begin to see God working in your life and helping you "bear the marks".

Sometimes we get so caught up in doctrine, denomination, and "rules", that we forget who we are serving. Reverend Graham reminded us for over half a century the simplicity that is found in being a child of God. A staple at every Graham crusade was the song Just As I Am. Thousands came forward to accept Jesus Christ because this man stood on the Word and never strayed from his message. He would tell you the truth, but in love. He would open up the Scriptures, but in humility. He taught us the heart of the Gospel. But his goal was always the same: to see the lost saved and to convict cold-hearted Christians. I don't know why Billy chose Just As I Am as his theme, but it was used in a mighty way and it played a role in the salvation of many. His life was marked by a calling from God to spread the Gospel, and we can do the same. Billy is an example for each and every one of us. We might not have a giant platform in the middle of a football stadium, but we do have a work-place. We have school to attend. We have grocery stories and shopping centers to visit. Wherever we go, we need to carry God's message. Again, if he were to sit with me right now, he'd say, "Stop rambling and tell them about Jesus". So I'm going to tell you about Him. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. Nobody can enter heaven but through Jesus. He died on the cross for you and rose from the dead for you. He can take every burden and every heartache, and mend a broken life. He can be joyful when you are joyful. He can feel your sadness when you are heavy in spirit. Come to Jesus today and you will never, ever be the same again. |
