There are all sorts of facial sprays out there, and they are used for numerous purposes. Some prime, some set, some moisturize, and some do absolutely nothing at all. But today's post is going to show you how to save money on a brightening spray that you can use to prime, set, AND moisturize, all depending on your need that day. This is a bonus because this "recipe" is used as a toner as well. 1) Find a spray bottle. I use an old one that contained another facial mist til I ran out. 2) Fill it half-way with cool water. 3) Take some lemon juice and pour enough in that the bottle is nearly full. Shake the bottle and give it a test spray. 4) Be amazed at how simple that was. Really. Benefits of this spray: - Brightens - Tones - Moisturizes - Cools - Smells good - Doesn't cost a thing unless you have to go to the store and spend a dollar for a spray bottle. Please let me know if you try this and report back on what you think. If you have any homemade skincare recipes you'd like to share, please comment down below! Much love, Patricia (Blog Author)

Image courtesy of the volunteer photographers on Pixabay Matthew 6:33 is one of the many, many promises that God gave us in His Word. It's important to know that some of these promises are conditional; for example, if you call on the name of Jesus, you'll be saved. Read Matthew 6:33. The first condition: seek God's kingdom, not this world's. The Bible says that the grass will wither and decay, but everything that is of God, including His Word and His kingdom, shall endure forever. Why seek God's kingdom? Because that is the key to knowing your salvation. That is the key to living the life that God intended for you to live. The second condition: seek God's righteousness. Notice how it says "...seek ye first the kingdom of God, AND his righteousness..." (emphasis added). It's not enough to have head-knowledge. It's not enough to have fifty books sitting on your shelf about the kingdom. You've got to actively seek His righteousness. Matthew 5:20 warns us to not be self-righteous though; He wants us to take on the righteousness of God. It's also important to note that we aren't to look at our own righteousness because Isaiah has already told us that ours is as filthy rags to God. But thank the Lord for a Savior! The promise: "...all these things shall be added unto you." Isn't that wonderful? It's not that hard if you think about it. Man's rules make it hard. They tell you to do this or do that, but if you think about, Jesus has already done it all. All we have to do is follow His example. Trust and obedience is all He asks of us, and nothing will be impossible for Him. What are you trusting God for? Are you seeking His kingdom first? Are you actively checking in on your self-righteous behavior? Pray and ask God this week to help you believe and trust Him for the things you need. As a former homeschooling student, I wanted to give some advice on potential readers who are homeschooled. (The curriculum I used was from The MorningStar Online Christian Academy.) 1) Just because you study at home doesn't mean that you can procrastinate. Work hard at what you're studying for. Interact with your instructors and/or parents/guardians. The school I attended made sure I clocked in a certain number of hours a day. I even logged in when I was sick just to put in some reading or review time. 2) Wear your pajamas. One of the up-sides of homeschooling is that your uniform can be yoga pants, pajamas, or your bathrobe. I took most of my exams after I rolled out of bed. 3) Study whenever you want. But of course if you have a work schedule, you can adjust your time to that. The advantage of studying when you want to has many perks, including being able to take on a job and do other activities, which brings me to my next point. 4) No excuses. My cyber-classmates and I were encouraged to be sociable and active. I met my first best friend in the site chatroom, and we bowled every weekend. We were also required to log our physical activities such as walking, running, and other forms of exercise. Two of my classmates met and got married a few years later! We certainly were not antisocial, sheltered recluses. 5) Have fun. No such thing as boring exams and endless reading assignments. Make it fun! Make it yours! Were you homeschooled? Were you or are you a homeschool parent or instructor? If so, give your own pointers in the comments below! Welcome back to SGAB. Today I wanted to share a review on one of my favorite foundations. They just recently repackaged it (not sure if there is a formula change), but I wanted to give my review on what I do know about it so far.
The Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation has an absolutely gorgeous finish for anyone who has dry to combination skin like me. It is a buildable, medium to full coverage liquid foundation. It feels light-weight and blends wonderfully. If you go to your local drugstore, Walmart, or Target, there should be at least ten different shade ranges give or take. (I am in the shade classic ivory all year 'round). If you want something that is more matte, the Fit Me Matte is a great option. The perks: - Lightweight - Buildable - Medium to full coverage - Dewy to satin finish (will not cake up if you add powder) - Comes with a pump The downers: - Oily skin types will not like this finish - No lid - Most of the shade ranges are warm tones (from what I could see in research) Let me know what else you'd like to see on the blog. Make it yours! Patricia (Blog Author) Image courtesy of Pixabay and their volunteer photographers.
These days, children all around the world down to the smallest baby are being bombarded by lessons every day. Some of these lessons aren't very good for them, including their soul. The Bible commands us that we should be teaching our children certain things that will help them grow spiritually and ultimately lead them to a loving relationship with Almighty God. Read in your Bible: Deuteronomy 6:6-7 What does the Bible say about teaching our children? What are we supposed to be teaching them? There are three main things our children ought to know how to do: Fear the Lord - There are many kids and young adults who do not have respect for their parents and elders, much less God. The book of Proverbs tells us that we should start this lesson young (Proverbs 22:6). We should tell them not to be afraid of God, but to respect Him, like we would an earthly father. Love the Lord - One of the great passages of Deuteronomy says to love the Lord with all that we have; why are we not teaching our children this? If we love the Lord, we can love everyone else. Don't teach them to love one person and not love the other. God's example is to love everyone because He first loved us. How can a child love the Lord? Show them how to pay attention in Sunday School and take them to a children's service until they are old enough to be in a big service. Let them read the Bible as part of their reading practice. Serve the Lord - Obviously a child isn't going to want to take part in the monthly nursing home visitation, but there are other ways he or she can serve God. Get them involved in a children's ministry (I was in the children's choir up until I was thirteen). Let them help cook a small treat for the next gathering or have them to read your prayer list. Finally we can teach them...God's promises, God's provision, and God's protection. 1) One of the most important things that we can show our kids is that God promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Even though little Billy down the street took a toy, they can rest assured that God will take care of it. 2) When you're looking at your bills late at night and your child comes to you for a glass of water, are you mumbling and grumbling about how you're going to pay the mortgage? Or are you praying over those bills and trusting God for provision? Our children need to know that our Father is loving, kind, and good, and that He will give us what is best. 3) Lastly, teach your kids that God is protective. Remind them during a thunderstorm that they are safe in the arms of God and that nothing can hurt them, just as their earthly dad protects them. I challenge you this week to begin teaching your children (it's never too late) the way that God intended for them to follow. If you've got a teenager that's gone astray, pray for them. But just make sure you're doing everything you can to lead your kids to the Lord. Prayerfully yours, Patricia (Blog Author) |
