Valentine's Day is upon us and hundreds of ladies reading this are probably wondering what they're going to wear for their date. This isn't limited to the official day of love though; you can wear this for a date night or even if you're single and ready to...mingle with Netflix. Regardless of your relationship status, I've hand-picked a few products that are sure to last you an evening full of love and laughter. DISCLAIMER: A few of these items may be high-end, but they were gifts. I'll be sure to include drugstore/affordable things as well. This post is NOT sponsored or affiliated with any of the brands or products mentioned. All opinions are honest and my own. 1) MAC Ruby-Woo Lipstick. This classic red lip will woo your partner...or your pet. But seriously, I adore this color. Perfect for the bold, sultry eyes or a minimal look with fresh, glowy skin. 2) If you're not the biggest fan of priming but you still want a soft glow and moisture, I highly recommend the Almay SmartShade Primer. It features two liquid color-correcting shades that will reduce redness, brighten a dull complexion, and give you an overall healthy look. You can wear it alone or underneath your makeup. 3) The trick to any beautiful look is a flawless base. Let's get real; unless you've got an airbrushing system, we can only go so far. But the Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation comes pretty darned close. Tested under seven light conditions and guaranteed to have no flashback, this foundation will last you the whole day. I actually spent a day in mid-August 2018 at a convention right here in North Carolina, and there was really no time to sit down and rest until around 8pm. I wore that foundation from around 7am til midnight and it did not budge. The flashback claim is very true; I had a picture taken professionally with an actor at the convention and my base looked beautiful even after over seven hours of wear time. If you have dry patches, I recommend cleansing and exfoliating as well as moisturizing before wearing that foundation. 4) The ELF Liquid Liner in Jet Black is bullet proof. Want a sharp wing? It'll probably be your best buddy, but it is not forgiving if you mess up. It's definitely hard to come off, but totally worth the hassle in my opinion. What are your favorite go-to date night products?

Oof. It's that dreadful time of the year for many single folks. You're watching your buddies go on dates and they've got those cheesy little love quotes on Facebook while you're sitting on the couch with a pint of Ben and Jerry's. I totally get it; I've been there. But today's post is going to get you out of that rut. Be your own valentine! 1) When you go online and search, "how to deal with loneliness on Valentine's Day", it usually says to get together with friends. But what if they're unavailable? Focus on yourself. Since you have all that free time, take care of yourself. Have a night in and watch those corny Hallmark "mush movies" as my mom would call them. 2) If you do have the luxury of a single friend, have them over for a visit or go out. Valentine's Day isn't just for couples. You love your friends too don't you? 3) Many people do find themselves feeling down or sad on February 14th, so if you catch yourself doing the same, remember your worth in Jesus. You don't need a partner to be satisfied. Yes, God created us to be helpmates for each other, but even Paul was in agreement that the single life will give you more time to focus on the Lord. 4) Give yourself and your time. If you see that a loved one is lonely, maybe you can be there. Sometimes all it takes is a box of chocolate and a smile. Just an added bonus...each of these tips give you an excuse to dig into the chocolates. Sounds good right? What are your favorite Valentine's Day traditions? While I thought it was funny at the time, it still had a lot of power and meaning. The preacher behind the pulpit that day said, "The love you have for that hamburger is not the same love you should have for Jesus Christ". How very true that is. During this season around Valentine's Day, let's reconsider the true meaning of love. If you're a lover of word studies, you'll probably be familiar with the phrase agape` love. Agape` is unconditional; it's the love that God has for the world and for His children. Love is the central theme of the Bible. "For God so loved the world..." "God is love..." "I have set my love on him..." "Greater love hath no man than this..." "They will know that you are my disciples by your love one for another..." We are loved by the Creator Himself. Even the angels have no idea what that's like. That hamburger you had for lunch? You craved it. You lusted after it maybe because of a commercial or an ad. Your girlfriend or boyfriend? You say you love them, but are there conditions? There shouldn't be. We should always love like Jesus did. Everything we do should be motivated by love. Nothing more, nothing less. Love should drive us to do the things that we ought to be doing. It should push us away from sinful, worldly things. God created us to love and be loved. Consider what it means to love, and you will in turn, be loved. But remember, even if nobody else loves you, God does. And that's all that matters. |
